Get started on a Siyavula Essential Package
How to get started on an Essential Package
The Essential Package allows you to assign work and track learners performance on the grade groups and supplementary classes.
- Grade Group is the automated allocation of registered learners at your school. Learners get linked into a grade group when they select a grade, school name and subject on their profile.
- Supplementary Class is a specialized class that a teacher can create to support a specific group of learners. For example, in supplementary class, a teacher can link learners who are struggling on a certain concept and give them extra work. These classes will not affect the registration and activity reports and and each teacher can create up to five supplementary classes.
When you log-in on your account, you will land on your Teacher Dashboard which shows:
- Your Classes: this is where you will find the supplementary classes
- Registered learners at your school: this is where learners are allocated automatically to grade groups

Creating Supplementary classes:
To create your supplementary class, click Create Class under Your Classes.

Your supplementary class will be added at the bottom of the advance classes and will be indicated supplementary on brackets. It is only visible to you as well as the school admin. It works very similar to the advance class. Link yourself by clicking Manage Class so that you can find this class when you send assignments.

Linking learners in Your Classes
After creating your class, You may link learners manually into the class by using their Siyavula IDs, Emails or using the school's learner list. Click here for instructions on how to link learners manually .

Grade groups
Since the learners get registered in the grade groups based on the information on their profile. It is very important that learner input the correct school name by selecting it on the search list, also select a correct grade and subject on their profile.
You can see the number of learners registered below the grade name. You can click on Admin, then Manage Grade to see the names of the learners that have registered.

If the grade group is missing on your dashboard, do not panic. This means there isn't a learner who has created an account or logged in and selected this grade yet.
Go ahead and encourage your learners to create accounts, and start assigning work to your grade groups.
