Discontinuation of Headstart and #1MillionMaths

At Siyavula, we hold ourselves to a high standard. Every initiative should deliver real impact, and every minute a learner spends on Siyavula should help them to learn, grow, and build their confidence. After deep reflection on our learner campaigns, we have decided to retire the current format of Headstart and #1MillionMaths.

While these initiatives promote engagement, we want to ensure they never overshadow the ultimate goal of subject mastery. We have observed that intense competition can sometimes lead learners to spend too much time on single sections or repetitive tasks to climb a leaderboard.

We know that learners get the most out of Siyavula when they use their time wisely - moving through the curriculum, identifying gaps, and building a foundation across all topics. We are busy redesigning our platform engagement to better support this journey. We will continue to support teachers and encourage you to integrate Siyavula practice into your classroom strategies, focusing on the topics you are currently teaching.

Thanks for continuing to partner with us to support meaningful Maths and Science learning. We look forward to sharing our future learner engagement activities with you.
